Software Bootcamp for Audio and Music Researchers

The SoundSoftware and Software Carpentry projects are organising a three-day bootcamp on software development, during the week preceding the DAFx conference. The bootcamp will run from the 13th to 15th of September 2012 at the University of York.

The goal of the bootcamp is to help scientists and engineers become more productive by teaching them basic software development skills like program design, version control, testing, and task automation. In this three-day boot camp, short tutorials will alternate with hands-on practical exercises. Participants will be encouraged both to help one another, and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems during and between sessions. There will be online follow up sessions for 6 to 8 weeks extending the material from the boot camp.

SoundSoftware 2014: Videos now available!

The SoundSoftware 2014 workshop, our third annual workshop on software and data in audio and music research, was just as enjoyable as the previous two. Because so much research in this field ends up being expressed through software, a software workshop turns out to be all about the means by which research becomes useful and relevant to people other than the original researchers—fertile ground for interesting and thought-provoking talks.

Our third annual one-day workshop on Software and Data for Audio and Music Research takes place on the 8th of July 2014 at Queen Mary, University of London.
