Videos from the Autumn School!
Video footage from the Software Carpentry and SoundSoftware.ac.uk UK Autumn School 2010 is now available via YouTube.
Almost all of the tutorial material from the Autumn School is now available for viewing – many thanks to Greg Wilson for both running the show and permitting it to be put online!
We've provided a number of playlists to break down the footage into sections according to subject:
- Software Carpentry: Python I
A first introduction to Python for complete beginners - Software Carpentry: Python II
Test-driven software construction; exploiting the ability to use functions as first-class objects to make your code simpler, more robust, and more general - Software Carpentry: Python III
Dictionary objects and file handling in Python - Software Carpentry: Databases
Simple database management for experimental data using SQLite - “Bits of Evidence”
A thought-provoking talk about the relationship between science and programming - Software Carpentry: Python IV
Using Python libraries; guest introduction to audio processing from Ben Fields
If you'd like to watch the whole thing, we also have one massive playlist that includes all of the footage we have, in the order it was recorded: Software Carpentry Autumn School 2010. Be warned, this playlist has 76 videos and is over 8 hours long!
